Jean Raleigh, who will receive a Master of Business Administration degree from Pamplin College of Business, has been selected as the student speaker for the Virginia Tech National Capital Region Commencement on Sunday, May 14. The ceremony begins at 1 p.m. at the Center for the Arts in Fairfax, Virginia.
Raleigh is a senior manager at the Golin public relations agency working on the McDonald’s and National Aquarium accounts. She leads the integrated marketing initiatives, social media, and multicultural programming for the Golin McDonald’s team across the Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and Richmond markets and provides strategic counsel on crisis and media relations.
As the client relationship lead for the National Aquarium, Raleigh led the aquarium’s 2016 Dolphin Sanctuary announcement, which received international media attention and garnered national public relations awards.
Her expertise and passion is in integrated marketing communications, brand strategy, corporate partnership development, crisis communications, and marketing analytics. She has been a guest presenter at McDonald’s Corporation and the University of Maryland.
Prior to joining Golin in 2012, Raleigh worked for McDonald’s USA in the Baltimore-Washington Region for five years as a marketing and consumer and business insights specialist, focused on analyzing marketing programs and creating business cases for the region’s six markets. In her role, Raleigh supported not only the Marketing and Consumer & Business Insights departments but also the Regional Leadership Committee (RLC) and more than 100 franchisees.
During her tenure, Raleigh chaired the Women’s Leadership Network in the region for two years while also serving on the McDonald’s regional Diversity Council.
Raleigh earned a degree in public relations, with a certificate in public affairs, from the University of Florida’s School of Journalism and Communications.
Raleigh is a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) National Capital Chapter and won awards for her work on McDonald’s OLD BAY Filet-O-Fish launch in addition to the National Aquarium’s Dolphin Sanctuary announcement.
