Robin Littleton Steve McKnight presents the 2017 Outstanding Staff Award to Robin Littleton

Robin Littleton received the 2017 Outstanding Staff Award yesterday during a luncheon celebration of Staff Appreciation Day in the National Capital Region. The $500 award was initiated 12 years ago to recognize consistent exceptional service to the university in the National Capital Region.

Littleton, who joined Virginia Tech, in 2015, serves as graduate program coordinator for the Pamplin College of Business located at the Northern Virginia Center in Falls Church.

In announcing Littleton as the award winner, Steve McKnight, vice president of the National Capital Region, referring to the nomination letter, said, “Our 2017 winner brought years of professional experience in higher education when hired in 2015, implementing a system for creating a database of prospects and an extensive communications plan -- where none had previously existed. Her expertise in the use of Hobsons exceeds all who I have encountered in the Graduate School. She is organized, efficient, and has trained many new staff members in the Pamplin Extended Campus Office over the last two years. As a result of her efforts, the quality of academic advising has risen considerably in surveys of MBA students.”

McKnight also recognized two other nominees for the Outstanding Staff Award: Kim Lyman, administrative services coordinator, Social and Decision Analytics Laboratory, in the Biocomplexity Institute of Virginia Tech; and Anna Smith, Executive Briefing Center event coordinator, Virginia Tech Research Center – Arlington.

This year’s Staff Appreciation Day celebration was held at the Virginia Tech Research Center ─ Arlington. A Hokie Wellness theme was incorporated into the event with massages, body mass and blood pressure screenings, and an overview of stress management techniques.
